The Practical Audio Lab is always going to stand on the side of Creators. Right now we’re in an unprecedented era. The value of Intellectual Property is at an all-time high and creators are capitalizing on the newfound independence.
And while creators are creating, Artificial Intelligence companies are developing products that crawl that content and generate their own content to post on the same platforms.
While Meta, Google, Open AI have safeguards against their users abusing their platforms, the users have only a few resources to protect us from people seeking to capitalize on our content.
There should be a balance in power or in the simplest way a social contract that ensures that I can opt out of AI bots crawling our content.
We’re not asking for a complete block of AI on the content, but what we are asking for is an “opt out” mechanism.
That can be as simple as a checkbox on the users side, essentially making it ‘private’ to AI crawling mechanisms.
This is all we’re asking for.
